Fiddle Group provides students and audiences with a musical experience much different from that of a traditional orchestra. Students memorize and perform Irish, Scottish, and American music, including some compositions written by the students themselves. The music learning process is more informal and aural than in an orchestra, allowing students to easily continue these skills in informal music settings after high school, or in community groups like the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Club.
Fiddle Group meets Thursdays, 5:00-6:30 in the A Wing at Silver Creek High School. No fee or audition is required to be a member of the group. All instruments are welcome, especially violin, viola, cello, electric bass, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, tin whistle, flute, and bodhran. The group performs regularly at Silver Creek concerts, Dickens Opera House, Pearl Street, and other local venues.
